The 1st UNESCO Asian Youth Forum on ‘Intercultural and Interfaith Dialogue to Ensure Peace’ was held in Jeju Island, Republic of Korea, from June 25-29, 2007. 34 youth delegates and 13 observers from 20 Asian countries participated in this forum, which was part of the series of six regional youth forms UNESCO organized in 2006-2007, following the relevant recommendations adopted at the Youth Forum of the 33rd UNESCO General Conference in 2005.

The Goi Peace Foundation sent youth member Mr. Jiro Omura as its representative and observer to the forum and also sponsored the participation of youth delegates from 8 Least Developed Countries.

The Asian Youth Forum provided youth people with an opportunity to exchange their experience and ideas and successfully concluded with the adoption of the Jeju Island Declaration, which includes 43 recommendations for youth-led action to promote intercultural and interfaith dialogue in the region.
