Mr. Nozawa, using his Hyponica method, succeeded in growing a giant tomato tree bearing 15,000 tomatoes from a single seed. He talked about his experience of discovering the mind of plants and the life force that could be nurtured infinitely. (Oval Hall, Osaka, March 30, 2000)

Infinite potential of nature
My motivation to start researches into the nature of life was to save the world from a food crisis resulting from the rapid growth of the world population. My specialty was photosynthesis, and I studied the capacity of plant photosynthesis. The elements required for photosynthesis to occur are sun, water, air and appropriate temperature. I developed the Hyponica method which simply optimizes these conditions. Through this method I learned that plants such as the sugar canes, and tomato plant can grow without limits and without the use of biotechnology or special fertilizers.

The Hyponica method proved that if the inherent forces of life are fully utilized, plants can grow infinitely. This has provided evidence that life force is a real entity. In the traditional world of science, my direct approach of dealing with the question of life was not taken seriously by anyone. The mainstream scientists did not acknowledge the evidence I produced because they had never regarded life force as a subject for study. Furthermore, these scientists do not even realize that the concept of life is lacking from modern science all together.

This is because modern science starts from a materialistic view point which does not distinguish the living from the dead. It is therefore quite natural that science fails to grasp life, and that is the greatest tragedy. Many scientists do not even realize that they are materialists.

When you look at the phenomena of the natural world, you will see that everything is living in perfect order, and that living beings tend to take the course toward happiness. Nature itself has an inherent ability to create an environment facilitating our well-being and the future of the world. That is the essence of life, and it is working in every part of this world as a great power beyond our imaginations. However, not many people realize that such power undeniably exists. Life takes form as nature governed by a certain law. This law referred to as the “principle of life” or the “law of life” is at the core of all life, and it should be seriously explored in future science.

Communicating with the mind of plants
I once taught the Hyponica agricultural method to a person who had never cultivated plants before. He used the method to start growing sunflowers in Brazil and successfully produced gigantic sunflowers. This person had no previous skill or knowledge in agriculture but had followed my instructions without demur.

The Hyponica method does not work for those who do not have full faith. For instance, if the grower has thoughts of curing diseases with chemicals, the plant will indeed develop diseases. The outcome is quite interesting. Skilled growers who thought they could do a better job all failed.

Whether you have skill or not has no relation to growing plants. In fact, you are better off having no skill. What is important is the deep communication with the plants. You should say to the plant in your mind, “You can grow as much as you wish.” In my method, my thoughts are conveyed to the plants in order to achieve visible effects. Anyone who listens and practices with conviction will succeed. Even a beginner can do it. However, those who have selfish or greedy intentions usually do not succeed. I learned from my results that one’s mental state and willingness to follow the laws of nature have direct effects on the growth of plants. As it is not an issue usually studied in agricultural technology, I had to strive for thirty years trying to make this point. The center of my research was always the question, “What is consciousness?”

The power of consciousness and the law of life
It is thought that our consciousness brings about the very result that is our mind. The mind determines how life is revealed, and how events develop. This is what we call life force or the workings of life. You may say that the mind and life force work as one. The creative power of life force is activated by the mind. This is different from technology. How the mind works determines the result. Our consciousness governs the law of causality, thus shaking the law of causality as explained by traditional science. A New Science is clearly emerging.

My objective has always been the happiness of the world. My experiments have proven that the strength of the human spirit can increase the plants’ growth capacity, and that this method is effective in overcoming any shortage of food. Also I have learned of the undeniable existence of “the law of life,” and its great potential. If we come to accept the law of life — the fact that our thoughts take shape in this world, humanity will naturally find its correct path. If we wish to lead a good life, each of us must control our mind and utilize the law of life to create the life we want for ourselves. If the people of the world sincerely wish for peace, it will definitely happen. Life uses its vital power to develop into a greater life. If we can uplift ourselves into that cycle, we can develop infinitely. That is my aim.

Scientists who recognize the power of consciousness and the existence of life force, must join efforts to make comprehensive research with the goal of creating a truly happy world. It is my hope that such a group of scientists will emerge from Japan and take a leading role in the world. I have high expectations that the Goi Peace Foundation will uphold such a grand vision and bring together the wisdom of scientists for the achievement of world peace.
