Hello. My name is Axil Kollist and I’m eight years old. I’m a ‘New Millennium Child’ because I was born in the year 2000. I was born on March 4th and my Mom says I do “MARCH FORTH” for World Peace. It is an honor to have been born at the beginning of the United Nations “International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World.” I think I will be able to change the course of history with a very simple plan… It’s a GOAL for World Peace Before 2021!
“My community” is the whole Earth and the Earth is in trouble. I know that I have a very comfortable life AND freedom here in America. I also know that there are millions of people who don’t. It really upsets me to think about this. My mom showed me pictures of grownups and children suffering and it breaks my heart. It especially hurts me to think about orphans who, besides not having enough food, water, clothing, bedding, medicine, school, or toys, have NO PARENTS. I try to help by sending packages and money to an orphanage in Kenya, but I’m just one little kid. There are so many other needy people.
So my mom and I came up with a plan. We decided to work for World Peace Before 2021. My mom wrote a cool song called “World Peace Before 2021” and she taught me how to sing it. I sing my song every chance I get. We designed World Peace Before 2021 bumperstickers and I started to give them away at my “World Peace Stand.” Then I started to give them away from my webpage www.worldpeacebefore2021.com which my mom helped me start.
Because of my work towards world peace, I was given the “Little Humanitarian of the Year 2007 Award.” (www.littlephilsophers.com) This honor brought many new invitations for me to sing my song “World Peace Before 2021.”
My mom started a MySpace (http://myspace.com/worldpeacebefore2021) which is in her name because MySpace will not allow an eight year old to have an account. My mom’s MySpace profile name is “World Peace Before 2021” and it’s all about me. Thousands of people are our friends on MySpace and the number grows by hundreds every day. Together my Mom and I read our friends’ many, many beautiful comments. I can’t believe what people say about me… They say things like, “Axil, one day you’ll be president” and “Axil, you rock!” and “Axil, you’re what the world really needs” and “Axil, you’re fantastic.” It’s very exciting to think that I can change the way people think!
Recently, I received an invitation to sing in a huge concert in Atlanta--The Global Peace Concert in August 2010. (www.ATLpeace.org) I know I’ll reach millions of people when I sing my song “World Peace Before 2021” at that concert. Until then, I’ll continue to sing my song whenever I get invited.
Dear Goi Peace Foundation Judges, I hope you will visit my webpage www.worldpeacebefore2021.com to see and hear me sing my song “World Peace Before 2021.” I would love to come and sing it for you too! I thank you for hosting this contest. My mom says 2008 is a great year to have your contest because 2008 marks the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. and the 60th anniversary of the assassination of Gandhi. I think that both of these men were such beautiful peacemakers and I want to be just like them.
One day I hope Oprah Winfrey will hear about me and she’ll invite me to come be on her show. Then I will ask her to help me establish my dream project “Adopt a Community.” This project would let everyday families ship their new and used clothes and toys, and toiletries and food for free to impoverished communities all over the world. I myself send packages to an orphanage in Kenya, but each package costs $100 to $200 to ship! Most families cannot afford to spend that kind of money for shipping. But I just know they would want to send packages if they could do it for free. I know I could talk Ms. Winfrey into helping start this project that would help people out until the time when world peace comes before 2021.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream. So do I! I’m just a regular kid. I swim and ride my bike. I go to school. I take guitar lessons and play video games. But I promise you… I will help bring World Peace. And I actually think it’s already starting to happen! Love, Axil |
