As one of its peace education programs in higher education, the
Goi Peace Foundation sponsors the "Goi Peace Chair on Peace
and Conflict Science" at the Munich School for Political Science.
Inaugurated in May 2004, lectures for the first summer semester
are given by Prof. Dr. Peter Joachim Optiz, who specializes in
political philosophy and international politics. Besides focusing
on international systems of collective security, students will
study the peace philosophy of Masahisa Goi through his writings
and discuss about the Declaration for All Life on Earth.
On June 8, 2004, a symposium commemorating the inauguration of
the Goi Peace Chair was held at the Munich School for Political
Science. President of the School, Prof. Dr. Peter Cornelius Mayer-Tasch
hosted the symposium attended by many academics and students. Goi
Peace Foundation Chairperson Masami Saionji and President Hiroo
Saionji each gave a keynote speech, while distinguished professors
Dr. Dieter Blumenwitz, Dr. James Davis and Dr. Gottfrie-Karl Kindermann
participated in a panel to discuss current topics on peace-building.
A congratulatory message from the newly-elected President of Germany
Prof. Dr. Horst Köhler was introduced to the delight of all
participants.
Proceedings of the symposium will soon be published from the university
press.
