On August 1, 2008, the Prestigious Philosopher Saint Shree Dnyaneshwara World Peace Award was awarded to Mr. & Mrs. Saionji in recognition of their noble mission to spread the Culture of Peace in the entire world through the work of the Goi Peace Foundation and the World Peace Prayer Society. In particular, the prize committee praised their life-time contribution in promoting a 'Neutral Peace Movement' transcending the boundaries of race, religion and nations beyond politics, through an extensive international network, establishing dialogues and initiatives for world peace.
The Philosopher Saint Shree Dnyaneshwara World Peace Prize is an annual award given by the World Peace Centre, Maharashtra Academy of Engineering and Educational Research’s Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MAEER’s MIT) in Pune, India. The prestigious peace prize was initiated in 2005 in the name of the great Philosopher Saint of India, who gave a new vision of the role of science and spirituality in promoting the well-being of mankind.
The grand award ceremony took place in the Saint Dnyaneshwara Hall at MAEER’s MIT in the presence of many dignitaries and media. During the Two Day Round Table Conference which followed, the Saionji’s gave keynote speeches contributing to the theme “Role of Science & Spirituality in Promoting the Culture of Peace in the World.”
