[Online event – March 2nd] Goi Peace Youth Event “How Can We Create Peace through Nonviolence?”

Dear Friends of Peace,

We are happy to announce that the Goi Peace Foundation will organize an online event “How Can We Create Peace through Nonviolence?” on Saturday, March 2nd, 15:00-16:40, Japan Time (Check your local time).

We are inviting Mr. Kazu Haga as our main speaker. He is a trainer and practitioner of nonviolence and restorative justice and works with incarcerated people, youth, and activists from around the country (U.S.A.). We will listen to his life story and learn about his work centered around trauma and healing. Understanding how trauma impacts individuals, including our inability to practice nonviolence, give empathy or understand our interdependence when we are operating from our trauma response, etc.

This event is organized for the winners and recent participants of the International Essay Contest for Young People, as well as youth up to 25 from around the world.

The Goi Peace Foundation plans to continue holding events like this to foster a community of young people from around the world, who will play a leading role as peacemakers in their respective countries.

According to the results of the Youth Survey on Peace Awareness which we conducted with the participants of the International Essay Contest for Young People, when asked what they need in their life in order to contribute to peace, respondents’ top answers were “Education, space to learn”, “Chance to voice my opinions” and “Connections with like-minded people of my generation”.

With that in mind, we will foster the Goi Peace Youth Community where participants from various backgrounds can connect and learn from each other.

Let’s create a peaceful world together!
