Summary
On Saturday, March 2, 2024, we held the online youth event “How Can We Create Peace through Nonviolence?” as part of our program to build a community for nurturing young leaders from various countries who will be the bearers of peace creation.
A total of 144 young people from the teens to thirties, with diverse values and cultural backgrounds, including past winners and recent participants of the International Essay Contest for Young People, joined from 29 countries. There were also participants from conflict-affected Palestine.
The participants listened to a presentation by Kazu Haga, a trainer of nonviolence and restorative justice who has supported incarcerated individuals across the U.S. in breaking the cycle of violence. The participants considered how to personally practice nonviolence in their daily lives.
